Teaching how to use the right gears

Care for our parks.

More people are visiting the park and many do not know the basics. OURSPOT pairs access with simple education, smart gear that keeps impact low, and cleanups so the land is respected and cared for.

Why This Matters

micro trash lingers

Micro trash is easy to miss and slow to break down. Caps, tabs, plastic corners, foil bits, and cigarette butts harm soil and wildlife. Slow down and scan before you leave. Pack every small piece out.

Trailhead trash piles up

Trailheads and parking lots collect the most litter. People repack cars, snack before the hike, and leave what feels small. Cups, bottles, wrappers, bottle caps, and tied dog bags pile up near kiosks and bins, sometimes even full household bags. Glass and micro trash stay sharp and animals tear into bags. It becomes the first thing visitors see.

Cans & Glass in fire rings

Wilderness fire rings are not trash cans. People toss in cans and bottles thinking the fire will take care of it. Metal and glass do not burn. Heat leaves sharp rims and hidden shards in the ash and soil. Feet, paws, and hands get cut, and animals spread pieces. Pack out cans, bottles, and foil. Keep the ring for clean wood only.

Food scraps train wild life

Food scraps do not disappear. Peels, cores, noodles, and crumbs teach wildlife to visit camps for food. That changes behavior, raises risk for people and animals, and spreads mess as animals drag waste around. Pack out every bit, even the things that feel natural.

How OURSPOT Gives Back

OURSPOT cares for our parks by combining education, thoughtful design, and cleanups. Each booking comes with simple guidance on outdoor care, plus an orientation that makes it easy to cook, store food, and manage trash responsibly. We help remove litter at trailheads, parking areas, and nearby trails, carrying it out so the ground is left clean.

OURSPOT is a rental and setup service that equip you to lead your own experience!
Together we leave every spot better than we found it.

We care about our parks

OURSPOT gives back by cleaning every place we step. At our spots, trailheads, parking areas, and nearby trail sections, we collect bottles, cups, wrappers, caps, foil, cigarette butts, and anything left in fire rings. This keeps glass and metal out of soil, discourages wildlife from human food, and prevents micro trash from reaching streams. We tally each weekend we clear a lot, trailhead, or trail. The result is a cleaner start for hikers, safer ground for families and dogs, and less strain on park crews. Our customers care, others notice, and the park benefits.

Gear & Preparation

Good gear and smart preparation protect the park. Many problems start with poor planning and improvised gear: no place for trash, messy cooking, no simple wash setup, and nowhere to store food or snacks. We design against that. Every OURSPOT setup gives each item a home with a clear cooking area, a small wash station, a food storage zone away from sleep and fire, and one sealed spot for all trash. With clear places and simple steps, the site stays tidy and low impact, and we carry the trash out when you leave.

Every Spot Is Our Spot

OURSPOT Educates Customers

At check in we teach a short orientation on smart gear use and why it matters. We cover how food smells invite wildlife, why glass and foil do not burn, and how micro trash lingers. Then we show the setup with set places for cooking, food storage away from sleep and fire, and one sealed spot for all trash. Use gear as intended, return items to their place, and scan the ground before you go. We carry the trash out so the site is cleaner for the next hikers. You lead your own trip. We provide the education and design that make good outcomes easy.

We leave Each Site Better Than We Found It

At OURSPOT, leaving a place better is part of our system. When your stay ends, we reset the ground to a clean, natural state. All gear is packed out, trash and micro trash are removed, and we check common trouble spots like fire rings and cook areas. We brush away food crumbs, pick glass and metal from ash, and lift any tape or cord. We smooth compacted soil, scatter small sticks, and make sure nothing is left to attract wildlife. The goal is simple. The site looks like a quiet piece of forest again, ready for the next hikers.
